On August 18th, the 2nd annual Frank R. Noyes, MD and JoAnne Noyes, BS, RN Endowed Eminent Visiting Scholar in Sports Medicine and Bioengineering was held at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  The event is a combined effort with the Noyes Knee Institute, Cincinnati SportsMedicine and Orthopaedic Center, and the University of Cincinnati’s Orthopaedic Surgery and Biomedical Engineering Departments to promote MD-PhD bioengineering developments in orthopaedic surgery.  The event, funded by Dr. and Mrs. Noyes, brings renowned researchers and practitioners together to present on patient treatment advances for residents, fellows and staff at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

This year’s key note speaker was Chris Harner, MD, Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and Sports Medicine Fellowship Program Director of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at  the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.  He is a leading sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon with numerous research publications, editorials, reviews and book chapters.  Dr. Harner was named President of AAOSM in 2013 and has been elected as President of AOA beginning in 2019.  We thank Dr. Harner for his contributions to the field and for his expert key note presentations as our Eminent Visiting Scholar!
